Professor Seyed Jalal Dehghani Firoozabadi is a Professor of International Relations at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, Allameh Tabataba'i University. He received his PhD degree in Political Science from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in 1996. He is a leading expert in European Studies and Foreign Policy and has published several books and articles on these topics in Persian and English. Moreover, he has so far supervised more than 40 PhD theses and and Masters dissertations in the field of European studies.
Since 2019, Professor Dehghani Firoozabadi has been entrusted with the duties and rights of the university's Vice-President for Research. Prior to that, he had served as the Deputy Head for Political and Legal Affairs at the Islamic Parliament Research Centre of the Islamic Republic of IRAN (2013-2018). Within ATU, Professor Dehghani has served as Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences (2009-2013).
Professor Dehghani is also a member of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, since 2018. He is also the Co-founder and Head of several scientific associations in Iran, such as the Iranian Association for Regional Studies, the Scientific Association of Iranian Diplomacy, and the Iranian International Studies Association.
